Winston Churchill & Henry VIII thimbles - Warwick Models circa 1990

Winston Churchill and Henry VIII pewter thimbles designed by Stephen Frost and produced by Warwick Models of England circa 1990. Widely considered one of the 20th century's most significant figures, Sir Winston Spencer Churchill (1874-1965) was a British statesman, soldier, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955. Apart from two years between 1922 and 1924, he was a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1900 to 1964 and represented a total of five constituencies. Ideologically an economic liberal and imperialist, he was for most of his career a member of the Conservative Party. Henry VIII (1491 - 1547) was King of England from April 1509 until his death in 1547. Henry is best known for his six marriages, and for his efforts to have his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled. His disagreement with Pope Clement VII about such an annulment led Henry to initiate the English Reformation, separating the Church of England from papal authority.
