Turk tobacco jar - Sarreguemines circa 1910

Turk majolica tobacco jar produced by Sarreguemines of Lorraine, France, circa 1910, model number 3264. Turkish people, or Turks, are the largest Turkic people who speak various dialects of the Turkish language and form a majority in Turkey and the disputed state of Northern Cyprus. In addition, centuries-old ethnic Turkish communities still live across other former territories of the Ottoman Empire. The Turk's hat with tassel forms the lid for the tobacco jar.
