Toby XX tiny toby jug designed by Harry Fenton and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, from 1994 in a limited edition of 2,500 for Lawleys by Post. Toby XX, or Double XX, is a gentleman toper sitting atop a keg with two Xs on the front. Originally produced by Doulton in the 19th Century at the Lambeth works as stoneware articles in light and dark brown glazes, Toby XX was remodeled as an earthenware toby jug by Harry Simeon in the 1920s. The image of Toby XX harks back to the Man on a Barrel tobies produced by numerous English and French potters in the 19th Century.
