Tit Bits Toby jug - Ault Potteries 1917-1918

Tit Bits Toby jug in a majolica finish, both green and brown colorways are known. The Toby was commissioned in 1917 by George Newnes, owner of the British Tit-Bits weekly magazine, as a prize for winners of the Tit-Bits Dittoes Competition in 1917. Around the base it reads "Tit-Bits Toby Jug" with 1917 incised on the back. The base is impressed with "Ault England" and stamped either "Reg applied for" or "Regd No 662400". Less than 200 jugs are known to exist, making this jug fairly rare.
