The Duke of Edinburgh character jug - Holkham Pottery 1953

The Duke of Edinburgh character jug produced by Holkham Pottery of Norfolk, England, in a 1953 limited edition to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021), was the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. He was the consort of the British monarch from Elizabeth's accession until his death, making him the longest-serving royal consort in history. Philip joined the Royal Navy in 1939, serving with distinction in the British Mediterranean and Pacific fleets. He was a patron, president, or member of over 780 organizations including the Licensed Victuallers' National Homes. This is a pair with the Elizabeth II character jug.
