The Black Cat large majolica toby jug in a black coat produced by Saint-Clement of France circa 1900. This cat is sitting contentedly in the warm sun and his tail forms the handle of the jug. The Black Cat, or Au Chat Noir, toby jug was produced on commission as an advertising jug for the Parisian cabaret Au Chat Noir, as marked on the bottom of the jug.
