The Antique Dealer character jug - Royal Doulton 1988

The Antique Dealer character jug modeled by Geoff Blower from a design concept by Kevin Pearson and Geof Blower, and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1988 special edition of 5,000 for The Collecting World Series by Kevin Francis Ceramics. Acting as an agent in all matters pertaining to antiques, this particular dealer's specialization is in seventeenth century flintlock pistols and silver candlesticks. An antique is generally considered an artifact of aesthetic or historical significance that is no longer in production or common usage and is typically more than one-hundred years old. Until the twentieth century, antique collecting was a pastime of the wealthy aristocracy, but today, with the scope of antiques and collectibles so vastly increased to include anything from china to Chippendales, collecting has become a passion in which every person can indulge. A candlestick and seventeenth century flintlock pistol form the handle of the jug.
