Tale Teller musical toby jug produced by H. Wain & Sons of Longton, England, circa 1960. The Tale Teller is the keeper of the lore of his people. Learned from the elders of his youth, he has memorized hundreds of stores that document the history of his people and have been passed down from generation to generation. He regularly shares these stories with members of his clan as well as visitors, and more importantly is tasked with the responsibility of passing all of the stories along to a select few of the next generation who represent the future Tale Tellers. A bamboo shoot forms the handle of the jug. The base of the large size jug was modelled to accommodate a musical movement, which is not present in this jug. The shorter Tale Teller toby jugs stand 7 3/4" and 6 1/2" tall.
