Standing Toby crested ware jug produced by Arkinstall and Sons of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1920 with its Arcadian China tradename. This Standing Toby is wearing the traditional everyday garb of the late 1700s including the long frock coat, buttoned vest, and tricorn hat. He has folded his hands in front of him, resting them on his ample belly. He bears a crest on his left side. Crested ware are small, porcelain objects in a variety of shapes and forms that bear a heraldic crest to represent the area in which they were sold as souvenirs. This crest is from Cheddar.
