Standing Toby jug - Swan China circa 1920

Standing Toby crested ware jug produced by Charles Ford of Hanley, England, circa 1920 using its Swan China tradename. This Standing Toby is wearing the traditional everyday garb of the late 1700s including the long frock coat, buttoned vest, and tricorn hat. He is holding his hands in front of him. Crested ware are small, porcelain objects in a variety of shapes and forms that bear a heraldic crest to represent the area in which they were sold as souvenirs. This crested ware toby jug bears a Walton-on-the-Naze crest on Toby's side.
