Sloop Orange stoneware character jug produced by T. Crafts & Co of Nashua, New Hampshire, circa 1840. Impressed on forehead are the words "SLOOP ORANGE." This suggests that the pitcher was made for use at sea, with the face possibly representing a sea captain, or for an officer aboard the sloop. The face includes piercing to the ear, indicating a sailor of some sort. Photographs courtesy Crocker Farm.
