Skull character jug produced by Department 56 of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, circa 2000. The skull is a bone protective cavity for the brain. The skull is composed of four types of bone i.e., cranial bones, facial bones, ear ossicles and hyoid bone. The most common symbolic use of the skull is as a representation of death, mortality and the unachievable nature of immortality. A skull is also used in magic rituals. A large femur forms the handle of this jug.
