Shylock musical toby jug - H. Wain & Sons circa 1960

Shylock musical toby jug produced by H. Wain & Sons of Longton, England, circa 1960. Shylock is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's play "The Merchant of Venice" (1600). A Venetian Jewish moneylender, Shylock is the play's principal villain. His defeat and conversion to Christianity form the climax of the story. A portion of Shylock's robe forms the handle of the jug. The base of the jug was modelled to accommodate a musical movement, which is not present in this jug.
