Shepherd thimble produced by Tony Wood Studio of Fenton, England, in 1987 for Scotland Direct. A shepherd is a person who herds, tends, and guards sheep. They protect and watch over their herd to ensure they are well fed, move from pasture to pasture, and are protected from predators. The plaque on the rear of the thimble has the artist's initials and year of production.
