Sheffield Wednesday Football Supporter character jug - Royal Doulton 1993-1999

Sheffield Wednesday Football Supporter character jug modeled by Stanley J. Taylor and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, between 1993-1999. Founded in 1867 by members of the Wednesday Cricket Club and played at Highfield before moving to Myrtle Road, Sheffield Wednesday was the first holder of the Sheffield FA Cup. The club played at Sheaf House, then Endcliff, and became professionals in 1886. In 1887 they moved to Olive Grove. Although refused admission to the Football League, the club was a founding member and first champions of the Football Alliance in 1889. In 1892 most Alliance clubs became founding members of Football League Division Two, but Wednesday was elected to an enlarged top division. The club has won four league titles, three FA Cups and the League Cup in 1991. They were founding members of the Premier League in 1992. A team colored scarf forms the handle of the jug.
