Seated Cavalier toby jug produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery of Hanley, England, circa 1995. A cavalier is a mounted soldier or knight. Dating back to King Charles I of England, cavaliers were specially selected men-at-arms serving the king in the English Civil War. Using William Kent's original molds, this Cavalier toby jug is a reproduction of the William Kent Cavalier toby jug from the early 1900s.
