Scottish Piper lamp base - Geza de Vegh circa 1930

Scottish Piper lamp base produced by sculptor Geza de Vegh in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, circa 1930. Scottish Pipers are expert musicians who are skilled in the playing of the bagpipes. Bagpipes are a woodwind instrument using enclosed reeds fed from a constant reservoir of air in the form of a bag. The Great Highland bagpipes are well known, but people have played bagpipes for centuries throughout large parts of Europe, Northern Africa, Western Asia, and northern parts of South Asia.
