Schoolmaster large faience character jug produced by Desvres circa 1890. The Schoolmaster has the difficult task of teaching young children the subject matter at hand which is French. This jug is a replica of the Thomas Forester Schoolmaster character jug that has the word "Language" hand painted across its back. The mark is the intertwined initials CF of Charles Fourmaintraux-Courquin dating the piece between 1863 and 1900.
