School Master toby jug - Japan circa 1950

School Master toby jug produced in Japan circa 1950 and is marked Made in Occupied Japan. The word school master, or simply master, refers to a male schoolteacher. This usage survives in British private schools, both secondary and preparatory, and a few Indian boarding schools that were modelled after British public schools but is generally obsolete elsewhere. This is a copy of the School Master toby jug produced by Wedgwood & Company. The two smaller School Master toby jugs stand 3 1/4" and 3" tall.
