Sailor stoneware tobacco jar produced by Royal Doulton of Lambeth, England, circa 1894. A sailor, seaman, mariner, or seafarer is a person who works aboard a watercraft as part of its crew and may work in any one of a number of different fields that are related to the operation and maintenance of a ship. This sailor has traveled the world and has many tales to tell. Sitting at the dock and with a rope at his feet, this sailor's head and shoulder are removeable to reveal the storage compartment for the tobacco.
