Rooster wall pocket string holder produced by Royal Tettau Porcelain Factory of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1920 using its Royal Bayreuth tradename. A rooster is an adult male chicken, which is a domesticated junglefowl species. People now keep chickens primarily as a source of food and as pets. Traditionally they were also bred for cockfighting, which is still practiced in some places.
