Punch candle snuffer produced by Royal Worcester of Worcester, England, circa 1976. Punch and Judy is a traditional puppet show featuring Mr. Punch and his wife Judy. The performance consists of a sequence of short scenes, each depicting an interaction between two characters, most typically the anarchic Mr. Punch and one other character who usually falls victim to the intentional violence of Punch's slapstick. From the popular English puppet show Punch is often found hitting other members of his party with his stick. The puppet show generally features Punch interacting with a series of characters in a variety of mishaps. Even his doting wife Judy cannot keep him from mischief.
