Pirate character jug produced at the Guernsey Pottery in Guernsey, England, circa 1970. A pirate is a buccaneer of piratical adventurers who raided Spanish colonies and ships along the American coast in the second half of the 17th century. After months at sea, this one-toothed pirate is relaxing at a pub along the coast. A heavy rope forms the handle of the jug. This is a promotional jug for the Mayfair Hotel of Guernsey, England.
