Pirate character jug produced by Arthur Bowker of Fenton, England, circa 1955. A pirate is a buccaneer of piratical adventurers who raided Spanish colonies and ships along the American coast in the second half of the 17th century. After months at sea, this pirate is relaxing at a pub along the coast. The pirate's braided ponytail forms the handle of the jug.
