Pirate's Wife character jug produced by Snel Ware of England circa 1965. The life of a pirate's wife was a difficult one. Not only was she responsible for keeping the household and raising the children while her husband was away for long periods of time, she was also trusted with keeping her husband's secrets, possibly including the location of hidden treasure. The pirate's wife had to walk a careful path between living as an upstanding citizen in her community while supporting her husband's illegal deeds. This jug was produced from Thorley China molds.
