Paul face pot produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2001. The walrus is a large marine mammal with distribution about the North Pole in the Arctic Ocean and subarctic seas of the Northern Hemisphere. Adult walrus are characterized by prominent tusks and whiskers, and considerable bulk: adult males in the Pacific can weigh more than 4,400 pounds. Walrus live mostly in shallow waters above the continental shelves, spending significant amounts of their lives on the sea ice looking for bivalve molluscs . Walruses are relatively long-lived, social animals, and are considered to be a "keystone species" in the Arctic marine regions. Paul the Walrus' face pot quote, "kookookatchu", a phrase heard in the lyrics of the song written by John Lennon, "I Am the Walrus", and released by The Beatles in 1967. The phrase was transcribed as "goo goo g'job", but fans confused it to "Koo Koo Kachoo" by taking the pronunciation literally.
