Owd Angus character jug - Hall Brothers circa 1955

Owd Angus character jug produced by Hall Brothers of Longton, England, circa 1955 using their tradename Radnor Bone China. Angus is a baby boy name of Celtic origin, meaning “one choice” or “one strength.” Fans of Celtic mythology will recognize Angus as Óengus or Aengus, the god of attractive traits like love, beauty, and youth. This Celtic god is often pictured in front of calming shores with shimmering wings and golden hair. A brier forms the handle of this jug.
