Ordinary Toby jug white Imperial - Copeland Spode circa 1910

Ordinary Toby jug in decorative floral design on white jacket produced by Copeland Spode circa 1910 model number 7699. The Imperial Ordinary Toby features a seated common man of the time wearing 18th century clothing and a tricorn hat. He holds a jug of his favorite ale in his left hand resting it on his knee, and balancing it with his right hand. In the factory notes, Copeland Spode referred to these highly decorated toby jugs as Imperial Toby jugs. This one with a white jacket displaying beautiful floral sprigs. Toby's Copeland late Spode mark was used from 1891 into the 20th century.
