Ordinary Toby jug blue Imperial - Copeland Spode circa 1910

Ordinary Toby jug in decorative blue design produced by Copeland Spode circa 1910. The Imperial Ordinary Toby features a seated common man of the time wearing 18th century clothing and a tricorn hat. He holds a jug of his favorite ale in his left hand, resting it on his knee and balancing it with his right hand. In the factory notes, Copeland Spode referred to these highly decorated toby jugs as Imperial Toby jugs. This one with beautiful floral images on each side and sprigs of flowers around the hat and inside the jug. Toby's Copeland late Spode mark was used from 1891 into the 20th century.
