This Ordinary Toby is wearing the traditional everyday garb of the late 1700s including the long frock coat, buttoned vest, and tricorn hat. He is holding a full mug of ale in his right hand. Crested ware are small, porcelain objects in a variety of shapes and forms that bear a heraldic crest to represent the area in which they were sold as souvenirs. This crested ware Ordinary Toby jug has a crest from Hereford on his left side.
