Old Roof Thatcher toby jug in a large size and full colorway produced by Sandyford Pottery of Tunstall, England, circa 1955. A roof thatcher repairs, treats or replaces timbers. and prepares materials, like straw, wheat reed or water reed into bundles ready for use. securing bundles of thatch to roof timbers using tarred cord or metal hooks. He often grew and harvested his own thatching materials. A tree branch forms the handle of this jug.
