Old Clothes Man toby jug - Franklin Porcelain 1980

Old Clothes Man toby jug designed by Peter Jackson and produced by Franklin Porcelain of London, England, in 1980 limited edition and sold on a subscription basis. The Old Clothes Man sells used clothing around the street of London. Very common in Victorian London, street vendors sold merchandise or services that were easily transported; the term is synonymous with costermonger or peddler. Street vendors often advertised by loud street cries or chants, and bantered with customers, to attract attention and enhance sales. This Old Clothes Man cries out, "Clo! Any old clo!" This is one of twelve toby jugs in the Cries of London Series.
