Monk toby jug Conac - Angouleme Pottery circa 1900

Monk toby jug produced by Alfred Renoleau at Angouleme Pottery of Angouleme, France, circa 1900. Dressed in his formal habit, this pious Monk is an advertising pitcher for Conac Bisquit. On the front of his apron it reads, "Conac Bisquit Favorito De Los Conocedores, translated from Spanish as, "Cognac Bisquit the favorite of the connoisseur." At the bottom of his long white apron is written, "Bisquit Dubouche & Co. Jarnac-Cognac", a French distiller with factories in the towns of Jarnac and Cognac.
