Midshipmite Soldier toby jug made in Astbury style circa 1780. In the style of the Ordinary Toby the Midshipmite group of toby jugs are not as well modeled and feature a seated soldier with an empty scabbard on his left side holding some tool of his trade. This Midshipmite Soldier is holding a jug of ale on his right knee and drinking from a glass held to his mouth with his left hand.
