Marley's Ghost character jug - Royal Doulton 1999

Marley's Ghost character jug modeled by David B. Biggs and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1999 limited edition of 2,500 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Marley's Ghost is the haunting character from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". The specter of Ebenezer Scrooge's partner Jacob Marley, the ghost comes back to haunt Scrooge on Christmas Eve seven years after Marley's death, proclaiming the tight fisted miser would be visited by three spirits and warning his former partner to change his ways. The ghost, as described by Scrooge, had a "chilling influence of his death-cold eyes - the folder 'kerchief bound about its head and chin - the chain made of cash-boxes, keys, padlocks, ledger, deeds and heavy purses." A chain of keys, padlocks and purses form the handle of this jug.
