Marley's Ghost & Scrooge thimbles - Johnson Ceramics circa 1985

Marley's Ghost & Scrooge thimbles produced by Johnson Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1985. Scrooge is the elderly man with a heart of stone from Dickens' novel "A Christmas Carol". Probably Charles Dickens' best-known character, the miserly Scrooge, with his familiar cry of "Bah, Humbug!", is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, who sends three more spirits, or ghosts of Christmas, in hopes of reforming Scrooge's heartless and penny-pinching ways. Scrooge will not let his downtrodden partner leave work to return to his family for the Christmas holiday. After visits by the three ghosts on Christmas Eve, Scrooge finds compassion in his heart and changes his ways.
