Lord Rodney toby jug produced by Jacob Marsh of Burslem, England, circa 1805. Admiral George Brydges Rodney (1718-1792) was a British naval officer. He is best known for his commands in the American War of Independence particularly his victory over the French at the Battle of the Saintes in 1782. Lord Rodney is holding a mug of ale in his right hand and has his faithful dog sitting at his feet.
This jug is considered part of the Midshipmite Group of toby jugs.
