Little Red Riding Hood toby jug blue/white - Germany circa 1920

Little Red Riding Hood toby jug in a blue and white colorway produced in Germany circa 1920 and marked Ges Gesch. Little Red Riding Hood is a European fairy tale about a young girl and a sly wolf. Its origins can be traced back to several pre-17th century European folk tales. The two best known versions were written by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm. A darling girl, she is on her way to grandma's house walking through the forest. She is carrying a full pot of stew for her grandmother in a basket on her right arm. The mark Ges Gesch is short for "Gesetzlich geschuzt" meaning registered in German. Ware marked in this way is commonly referred to as Ges Gesch ware.
