John Lennon character jug - Peggy Davies Ceramics circa 2009

John Lennon character jug modeled by Ray Noble and produced by Peggy Davies Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2009 in a limited edition of 200. The Beatles, probably the world's most famous rock and roll group, formed in Liverpool, England in the early 1960s, signing their first record contract with EMI in 1962. John Lennon (1940 - 1980) played the rhythm guitar and was one of the group's lead singers, along with George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Lennon and McCartney were responsible for many of the melodies and lyrics that quickly caught on and created a wave of hysteria called "Beatlemania". The group's creativity and versatility kept them at the top of the world's music scene for many years. The group split up in 1971 to follow their own individual careers, but the tracks they recorded together have taken on a timeless quality for the world to enjoy for generations to come. Lennon also had great success as a solo artist. John's rhythm guitar forms the handle of the jug.
