Hookey toby jug produced by Thorley China of Longton, England, circa 1955. Hookey is an experienced pirate who has seen his fair share of battles. Many years ago he lost his left hand in a raid, which was replaced by a metal hook, earning him the nickname Hookey. A pirate is a buccaneer of piratical adventurers who raided Spanish colonies and ships along the American coast in the second half of the 17th century. After months at sea, Hookey is relaxing at a pub along the coast.
