Honest Measure covered jar stoneware orange - Royal Doulton 1924-1929

Honest Measure stoneware covered jar used as a tea caddy wearing an orange waistcoat and brown jacket, modeled by Harry Simeon and produced by Royal Doulton of Lambeth, England, between 1924 and 1929. Honest Measure is a form of the Squat Toby sitting on the ground with his left leg down and right leg up, a churchwarden pipe in his left hand and a full mug of ale in his right hand and is based on the Squat Tobies of the 19th century. Honest Measure is inspired by the quote "Honest Measure - Drink at Leisure", a motto he is quite willing to live up to. Honest Measure's hat is removeable for storing used tea leaves and bags.
