Henry V character jug - Franklin Porcelain 1982

Henry V character jug designed by Peter Jackson and produced in Malaysia for Franklin Porcelain of London, England, in a 1982 limited edition sold on a subscription basis. Henry V of England (circa 1387-1422), son of Henry IV and Mary de Bohun, was one of the great warrior kings of the Middle Ages. Born at Monmouth, Wales, he reigned as King of England from 1413 to 1422. He led the English to victory against the French at Agincourt. He married the French princess, Catherine, cementing the relationship of the two countries and becoming heir to the throne of France. The play, "Henry V", by William Shakespeare, deals with the events in Henry's life immediately before and after the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years' War. The play is the final part of a tetralogy: it is preceded by Richard II, and Henry IV, parts one and two. Depicted in these plays as a wild, undisciplined lad known as "Prince Hal," and as a roustabout with his friend Sir John Falstaff, in Henry V the young prince has become a mature man and embarks on an attempted conquest of France.
