Happy Sad character jug - Sarreguemines circa 1905

Happy Sad Man majolica character jug produced by Sarreguemines of Lorraine, France, circa 1905, model number 2313. The jug has a two superimposed heads a happy face when held right-side up, and sad face when upside down. The phrase "Tu ris quand tu es plein, quand tu es vide tu te plains" is incised around its base and is a play on words which translates to "You laugh when you're full, when you're empty you complain."
