Goat toby jug - Franklin Mint 1986

Goat toby jug designed by Hallie Greer in a blue and white floral decoration, and produced in Korea for The Franklin Mint of Exton, Pennsylvania, in a 1986 limited edition. The goat is a domesticated species of goat-antelope typically kept as livestock. It was domesticated from the wild goat of Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. It is one of the oldest domesticated species of animal, according to archaeological evidence its earliest domestication occurred in Iran 10,000 years ago. Goat-herding is an ancient tradition that is still important in places such as Egypt. Goats have been used for milk, meat, fur, and skins across much of the world. Milk from goats is often turned into goat cheese.
