George toby jug - Bairstow Manor Pottery circa 2015

George 3/4 body toby jug produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery of Hanley, England, circa 2015 in a limited edition of 1,963. George Harrison MBE (1943-2001) was an English musician and singer-songwriter who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Sometimes called "the quiet Beatle", Harrison embraced Indian culture and helped broaden the scope of popular music through his incorporation of Indian instrumentation and Hindu-aligned spirituality in the Beatles' work. His songs for the Beatles include "Taxman", "Within You Without You", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Here Comes the Sun" and "Something". After leaving the Beatles, Harrison also had a successful solo career. This jug is from the Beatles' 1963 Fab Four era and depicts George playing his guitar. Note the pair of eighth notes that form the handle of the jug. The jug was modeled by Ray Noble.
