General character jug produced by Capodimonte of Italy circa 1975. A general is a senior commissioned officer in the military who commands units larger than a regiment or multiple arms of the service. Generals are responsible for planning missions and strategies, and overseeing the training and preparation of units. They also command the Army during times of peace and battle.
