Fox and Horse character jug produced by Royal Stratford of Longton, England, circa 1985. Featuring a fox head on one side and a horse head on the other, this character jug displays two of the key active participants of a fox hunt. Fox hunting is an activity involving the tracking, chase and, if caught, the killing of a fox, traditionally a red fox, by trained foxhounds or other scent hounds. A group of unarmed followers, led by a "master of foxhounds", follow the hounds on foot or on horseback.
