Fou Du Roi faience character jug produced by Desvres circa 1890. Fou Du Roi translates as court jester. He was a common attraction at high society gatherings or in the Royal court. This jug is commonly a pair along with Judy character jug. The mark is the intertwined initials CF of Charles Fourmaintraux-Courquin dating the piece between 1863 and 1900.
