Flower Seller toby jug produced by Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur in Thuringa, Germany, circa 1920. A flower seller was someone who sold flowers on the streets of Victorian England to earn a living. It was quite common to see people selling various goods or services on the streets of large cities. Street sellers, or ‘costermongers’, could be found flogging literally anything you can think of, whether it be fish, soup, clothes, drinks, homemade items, or even flowers. This is a pair with the Flower Seller Man toby jug. Note the gold anchor mark below the handle on the rear of the jug.
