American Toby Jug Museum 

Elk creamer pitcher character jug produced by Royal Tettau Porcelain Factory of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1920 using its Royal Bayreuth tradename. The elk is the second largest species within the deer family and one of the largest terrestrial mammals in its native range of North America and Central and East Asia. Elk range in forest and forest-edge habitat, feeding on grasses, plants, leaves, and bark. Male elk have large antlers, which they shed each year. Males also engage in ritualized mating behaviors during the rut, including posturing, antler wrestling, and bugling, a loud series of vocalizations that establishes dominance over other males and attracts females. This is the largest of four known sizes with the water pitching standing 5 1/4" tall, the milk pitcher standing 4 1/2" tall, and the creamer standing 3 3/4" tall.
